We're recruiting for a growing and highly respected construction business that is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager. This is a genuine new business role. We're not looking for someone to manage existing accounts or maintain relationships that are already in place. We're looking for someone who knows how to win work, build relationships with the right people and create opportunities from scratch. Construction sales experience is essential. This role is not suited to someone from recruitment or hire sales. You must understand how construction projects are secured and have an established network of decision makers across contractors, developers, consultants or end clients.
Just as importantly, you'll be joining a business that understands relationships take time to build. You'll receive the support, backing and time needed to get up to speed, learn the business and develop a strong pipeline. You won't be expected to produce results overnight.
The Role

- Keeping up to date with market activity, competitor movements and future projects
- Reporting on pipeline activity and business development performance

- An established network of decision makers that can be developed into future opportunities
- Experience generating and winning new business
- A good understanding of procurement routes and how projects are awarded
- Strong commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive approach with the drive to develop new opportunities
