Main purpose of the job:

The role of Warehouse Manager (Nights) plays a key role in maintaining excellent service levels and ensuring we continue to comply with all expectations regarding Health & Safety and housekeeping. You will ensure all inbound, outbound, pre-packing and stock related activities are completed accurately and on time. We expect our Warehouse Manager (Nights) to contribute to developing a team of warehouse operatives that can work closely together between all aspects of the warehouse operations and in a way that contribute to the effectiveness of other shifts.

Reports to:Depot Manager

Contract:Full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week

Salary: Β£35 - Β£45k depending on experience

Hours:

  • The standard hours are 4pm to 12:00am, with some shifts starting and finishing earlier or later depending on requirements.
  • Sunday to Thursday.
  • Some working on Saturdays and Bank Holidays may be required.

Main duties:

  • Perform a daily handover with the outbound shift manager / supervisor at the start of the shift and perform a handover with the inbound shift manager / supervisor at the end of the shift. The handover covers a walk-though of the warehouse and yard, focussing on current issues, concerns, Health & Safety, housekeeping and cleanliness. The staff member receiving the handover at the start of their shift is responsible for confirming (on an appropriate Teams channel) that the handover took place, and any issues should be noted.
  • Assist and coordinate the safe, accurate, complete and timely execution of the picking operation, in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure the quality of goods picked are satisfactory and train warehouse team to always perform at the required standard.
  • Ensure pick shift administration is accurate and up to date at all times.
  • To ensure that all runs to be loaded on the cross dock are completed accurately and on time and loaded timely and safely.
  • Ensure that the warehouse appearance is in line with company policies, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and HACCP requirements at all times.
  • Perform daily walkthroughs with all warehouse operatives to ensure compliance with Health and Safety Standards, Cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules are suitably completed and ad hoc requirements identified and addressed.
  • Supervise and train team of Circa 10 warehouse operatives to achieve requirements of the role.
  • To train and develop the team to ensure Health and Safety Standards, Cleanliness and housekeeping standards and expectations are met.
  • Assist the rest of the management team with the day-to-day running of the department and provide cover in all areas when required.
  • Ensure all Repairs and Maintenance related requirements are brought to the attention of management.
  • Protect all stock and other assets of the company and ensure controls are in place to avoid the misappropriation of assets stock and other assets.
  • Monitoring of team productivity and addressing of any issues
  • Demonstrate professionalism and general respect in all staff relationships
  • Conducting initial and refresher training with the team
  • To ensure processes and company policies are followed, and appropriate people and equipment resources are available.
  • Share ideas and develop innovative ways of working to improve company performance and employee engagement in line with the business strategy within departmental budget.
  • To report any accidents and promote best practice in Health and Safety and contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, workers and visitors on site.
  • Any other tasks considered essential by Management.

Skills and experience required:

  • Awareness of stock control processes
  • Strong IT systems experience and the ability to communicate effectively on messaging channels.
  • Experience or knowledge of Health and Safety, Food Safety and HACCP procedures.
  • An action-oriented individual, who is solutions-focussed, can manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time.
  • A good team player, with attention to detail and good problem-solving skills that follows processes in place and participates in sharing ideas for improvements.
  • Experience working as a Warehouse Supervisor or Manager, ideally gained within the Foodservice sector.
  • Experience with stock control and goods in within a Foodservice, FMCG or other temperature-controlled food warehouse environment.
  • Experience managing people in all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Desirable:

  • Forklift licence preferable
  • Experience working with fresh produce is preferable to ensure highest quality levels are maintained
