Role Summary:
Based on the Dunraven School sites, you will provide weekly, short and long-term counselling to young people aged 11 to 18, experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties.
Main Activities & Responsibilities:
- Offer individual counselling to young people.
- Provide consultation to staff supporting emotional distress, adhering to best practices regarding information sharing and confidentiality.
- Attend at least 75% of scheduled group supervision (2 hours every fortnight).
- Complete two half days of induction and safeguarding training.
- Participate in at least 2 out of 3 Counselling Service Team Meetings per year.
- Work within statutory obligations and Counselling Service guidelines on client confidentiality and safeguarding.
- Report Safeguarding and Child Protection concerns to the Director of Inclusion.
- Maintain confidential records in accordance with DPA and BACP guidelines.
- Adhere to BACP ethical framework at all times.
- Participate in interviews of prospective volunteer counsellors and provide feedback on suitability.
- Collaborate with Counselling Service Lead to maintain an effective counselling service.
- Conduct CORE assessments for statistical recording.
- Stay updated on developments in counselling for young people.
- Commit to the school’s mission statement and ethos, including equal opportunities and health and safety policies.
- Undertake any other duties as requested by the Principal/SMT/Line Manager/Counselling Service Lead.
