Key Maintenance Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Lead and allocate engineers across planned and reactive maintenance
- Prioritise breakdowns and maintenance requirements to minimise production downtime
- Drive PPM completion and improve planned versus reactive maintenance
- Use the CMMS to allocate, monitor and close maintenance work orders
- Lead RCA investigations into repeat and high-impact equipment failures
- Deliver daily toolbox talks covering safety, priorities and engineering performance
- Manage contractors, including Permit to Work, safety and completion of works
- Maintain accurate shift logs, CMMS records and handover information
- Work closely with Production and the Technical Engineering Manager
- Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend PPM improvements
- Coach and develop engineers and act as the first escalation point for shift engineering issues
Required Maintenance Supervisor Experience:
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience as a Lead Engineer, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisor or similar
- Strong hands-on engineering experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume manufacturing
- Experience leading engineers within a shift-based operation
- Strong understanding of PPM, reactive maintenance and breakdown response
- Experience using a CMMS
- Experience with RCA and corrective actions
- Experience managing contractors and Permit to Work systems
- Strong engineering safety and compliance knowledge
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification
- Electrical or Mechanical engineering qualification
- IOSH or relevant health & safety qualification
- Experience with 5-Why / Fishbone RCA
- Experience within a BRCGS-accredited food manufacturing environment
