The Role

We are recruiting for a FLT Driver / Machine Minder to join a food manufacturing site in Driffield.

The role is mainly focused on operating and monitoring production machinery, with some Counterbalance FLT driving when required, including holiday cover and busy periods.

Machine operating experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, a valid Counterbalance FLT licence and previous experience are essential.

The role is initially a 12-week FTC, with the opportunity to become permanent afterwards.

Key FLT/ Machine Minder Responsibilities

  • Set up, start, operate and monitor production machinery to meet daily output and quality requirements.
  • Complete start-up and routine checks to ensure machinery is safe and operating correctly.
  • Monitor machine performance and make basic adjustments where required.
  • Identify machine faults or issues and escalate them appropriately to the relevant team.
  • Carry out cleaning and routine checks of machinery in line with site procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • Complete accurate shift handovers and communicate any issues effectively.
  • Operate a counterbalance FLT safely and efficiently when required.
  • Load, unload and transport materials, products and stock around the site.
  • Provide FLT cover during colleague holidays and support the department during periods of increased demand.
  • Complete routine FLT checks and report any defects or safety concerns.
  • Support the wider production team with general duties when required.
  • Follow all company health & safety, food safety, quality and operational procedures.
  • Develop your knowledge and capability across additional machinery and processes as required.

Essential FLT/ Machine Minder Requirements

  • Valid Counterbalance FLT licence
  • Previous experience operating a Counterbalance FLT within a manufacturing, warehouse, food production, agricultural or similar environment.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • Reliable, hardworking and willing to work across both machine operating and FLT duties.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new machinery and production processes.

Desirable FLT/ Machine Minder Experience

  • Previous experience operating production machinery or working as a Machine Minder.
  • Experience carrying out basic machine checks, adjustments or fault identification.
  • Understanding of production, quality and food safety requirements.
