- Key Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities
- Respond to breakdowns as the first responder on shift.
- Independently diagnose mechanical, electrical and instrumentation faults.
- Carry out emergency repairs safely under Lead Engineer direction.
- Fault-find PLCs, sensors, drives and control panels.
- Carry out mechanical repairs on bearings, gearboxes, conveyors and pumps.
- Carry out electrical repairs on motors, starters, switchgear and wiring.
- Safely isolate and reinstate equipment under Permit to Work procedures.
- Complete accurate CMMS breakdown and maintenance work orders.
- Support RCA investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Support production restart and sign off equipment for return to service.
- Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) through the CMMS.
- Carry out condition monitoring including vibration, thermal imaging and lubrication.
- Perform electrical testing including insulation resistance, earth continuity and PAT.
- Inspect and maintain control panels, junction boxes and cable runs.
- Required Maintenance Engineer Experience
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical engineering experience.
- Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume manufacturing.
- Proven experience with both planned and reactive maintenance.
- Strong independent breakdown response and fault-finding experience.
- Experience with PLCs, control systems, sensors, drives and electrical equipment.
- Experience using CMMS systems for work orders and asset records.
- Experience with Permit to Work and safe isolation procedures.
- City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification (required).
- Experience with ATEX/hazardous areas, RCA, 5-Why and Fishbone analysis.
- Experience working in a BRCGS-accredited food manufacturing environment
