The Opportunity

As Engineering Supervisor, you'll play a key role in supporting operational performance by leading maintenance activities, developing engineering capability, and ensuring equipment reliability across the site. You will be the link between the engineering team and wider production operation, helping to create a proactive maintenance culture focused on safety, performance, and continuous improvement.

Key Engineering Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of multi-skilled engineers across daily engineering operations
  • Coordinate engineering workloads and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and effectively
  • Drive completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules to maximise equipment reliability
  • Support rapid response to breakdowns and minimise production downtime
  • Assist engineers with mechanical, electrical, and automation fault diagnosis
  • Promote a positive engineering culture through coaching, mentoring, and team development
  • Manage shift handovers and ensure effective communication across engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and lockout/tagout processes
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, and audit compliance
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance
  • Support engineering projects including equipment installation, commissioning, and upgrades
  • Monitor engineering performance metrics and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For In An Engineering Supervisor:

We are keen to speak with Engineering Supervisors, Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, or Team Leaders from fast-paced manufacturing environments, including:

  • FMCG

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience leading or supervising engineering teams within manufacturing
  • Strong multi-skilled engineering knowledge with mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience
  • Experience working within automated, high-volume production environments
  • A good understanding of UK health and safety requirements within manufacturing
  • Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems
  • The ability to motivate teams, prioritise workloads, and drive engineering performance
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • PLC fault-finding experience
  • TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement experience
  • NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent engineering qualification
  • 17th or 18th Edition Electrical Qualification
