Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across multiple retail sites.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, ensuring minimal disruption to store operations.
  • Complete general building maintenance and electrical repairs across the estate.
  • Carry out electrical testing, inspections and fault finding.
  • Install, repair and replace electrical components and equipment as required.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and out-of-hours call-outs.
  • Support repairs and maintenance on commercial ovens, with full training provided where required.
  • Work across sites throughout the estate, predominantly covering Hull, Scarborough and York.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all required documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with current electrical regulations.
  • Liaise with the Shop Maintenance Manager to prioritise workloads and improve maintenance standards.
  • Promote high standards of Health & Safety and ensure compliance with all company procedures.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
  • Fully qualified Electrician with recognised industry qualifications.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • BS2391 Testing & Inspection qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience carrying out electrical maintenance within commercial, retail or industrial environments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise planned maintenance alongside reactive breakdowns.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to participate in a 1 in 4 on-call rota and occasional unsociable hours.
  • Desired:
  • Experience carrying out general building maintenance.
  • Experience working within a field-based maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of commercial catering equipment or ovens (training will be provided if required).
  • Flexible approach with a willingness to support multi-skilled maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple locations with minimal supervision.

Additional Information:

This is a field-based role covering multiple sites across the estate, predominantly within Hull, Scarborough and York. Standard working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in a 1 in 4 Saturday standby and call-out rota. Unsociable hours are typically required approximately twice per month. A company van, fuel card, specialist tools and all business travel expenses are provided. The successful candidate will join an established maintenance team consisting of two electricians, working closely together to maintain the company's retail estate.
