Key Field Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers across company sites.
- Travel to different sites to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide effective roadside and on-site repairs.
- Complete inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Prepare HGVs and trailers for MOTs and ensure vehicles meet DVSA compliance standards.
- Complete accurate maintenance records and associated paperwork.
- Work safely and follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Work closely with workshop and operational teams to prioritise repairs and maximise fleet availability.
- Manage your own workload while working independently across multiple locations.
Field Service Technician Requirements:
Essential:
- Fully qualified HGV Technician with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
- Previous experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and trailers.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, compliance, and attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desired:
- Previous experience working in a mobile or field-based HGV maintenance role.
- Experience preparing vehicles for MOT and maintaining DVSA compliance.
- Experience working across multiple sites and responding to breakdowns.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with workshop and operational teams.
