Key Field Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers across company sites.
  • Travel to different sites to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide effective roadside and on-site repairs.
  • Complete inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Prepare HGVs and trailers for MOTs and ensure vehicles meet DVSA compliance standards.
  • Complete accurate maintenance records and associated paperwork.
  • Work safely and follow all company health and safety procedures.
  • Work closely with workshop and operational teams to prioritise repairs and maximise fleet availability.
  • Manage your own workload while working independently across multiple locations.

Field Service Technician Requirements:

Essential:

  • Fully qualified HGV Technician with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and trailers.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, compliance, and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desired:

  • Previous experience working in a mobile or field-based HGV maintenance role.
  • Experience preparing vehicles for MOT and maintaining DVSA compliance.
  • Experience working across multiple sites and responding to breakdowns.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with workshop and operational teams.
