A position has arisen for an Electrical Controls Engineer. In this role you will play an integral part in the engineering team, taking responsibility for leading complex automation projects, producing technical documentation, programming control systems and supporting installation and commissioning activities.
Responsibilities
- Leading complex electrical engineering projects, including FAT and SAT activities
- Generating technical documentation, including control philosophies, FDS and C&E documents
- Producing detailed cable schedules and block cable diagrams
- Collaborating with mechanical teams to design cable routing and associated containment
- Programming, testing and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs
- Supporting installation and commissioning activities on site
- Producing detailed costings and labour estimates to assist the sales team
- Providing technical support to engineers and customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of IET wiring regulations (BS 7671)
- Proficient in reading and creating electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical
- Hands‑on experience with PLC/HMI programming in TIA Portal
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting industrial networks, including Modbus, Profinet and Ethernet‑IP
- Knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR regulations would be desirable
- Understanding of functional safety standards, including IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, would be beneficial
