We are currently recruiting Environmental Services Assistants to support environmental response and cleansing operations across Sheffield.
Responsibilities
- Clearance of illegally dumped commercial and household waste
- Cleaning and disinfection of noxious, verminous or contaminated premises
- Removal of animal carcasses and condemned foodstuffs
- Assisting with drainage investigations and remedial works
- Loading, collection and disposal of waste materials
- Completing basic records, job cards and timesheets
- Driving council vehicles and carrying out daily vehicle checks
- Working in challenging and unpleasant environments when required
This role involves both independent work and working as part of a team, with regular contact with members of the public.
What We’re Looking For
- Full UK driving licence essential
- DBS check required
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
- Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Physically fit, able to move, lift and carry heavy or bulky items
- Comfortable working in unpleasant or noxious conditions
- Reliable, organised and able to prioritise workload
