We are seeking a dedicated Personal Advisor to support children and young people in care, preparing to leave care, or who have recently left care.
Responsibilities
- Manage and review Pathway Plans and Risk Assessments for assigned young people
- Provide direct support to care leavers, including those aged 18+
- Deliver practical housing-related support including budgeting, benefits advice, tenancy sustainment and independent living skills
- Support young people to secure and maintain safe, suitable accommodation
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, accommodation providers and partner agencies
- Attend Looked After Children reviews, CIN/CAF meetings and other relevant multi-agency meetings
- Maintain accurate records using IT systems and meet statutory requirements
- Participate in duty rota, responding to young people in crisis
- Promote participation and engagement opportunities for young people
Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and related legislation
- Understanding of safeguarding and the challenges faced by care leavers
- Recent experience supporting vulnerable young people
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good ICT and administrative skills
Desirable
- Experience working with young people in the care system
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Experience advocating for vulnerable young people
- Experience of partnership and interagency working
