Overview

Wakefield Area

Full Time | Monday - Friday | 8:30am – 5:00pm

Temporary Contract until February 2027

£16.62 per hour

Enhanced DBS (Children) Required

We are seeking a dedicated Personal Advisor to support children and young people in care, preparing to leave care, or who have recently left care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review Pathway Plans and Risk Assessments for assigned young people
  • Provide direct support to care leavers, including those aged 18+
  • Deliver practical housing-related support including budgeting, benefits advice, tenancy sustainment and independent living skills
  • Support young people to secure and maintain safe, suitable accommodation
  • Liaise effectively with internal teams, accommodation providers and partner agencies
  • Attend Looked After Children reviews, CIN/CAF meetings and other relevant multi-agency meetings
  • Maintain accurate records using IT systems and meet statutory requirements
  • Participate in duty rota, responding to young people in crisis
  • Promote participation and engagement opportunities for young people

Requirements

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and related legislation
  • Understanding of safeguarding and the challenges faced by care leavers
  • Recent experience supporting vulnerable young people
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good ICT and administrative skills

Desirable

  • Experience working with young people in the care system
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Experience advocating for vulnerable young people
  • Experience of partnership and interagency working
