We are currently recruiting for an experienced planning officer to support minerals and waste planning work for a local authority in the Oxford area. This is a 6‑month contract offering hybrid working and flexibility for part‑time applicants. This role will involve managing complex planning applications and providing specialist planning advice on minerals and waste developments, helping to support key planning services within the authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment and determination of minerals and waste planning applications, including major and complex proposals.
  • Provide professional planning advice on minerals and waste matters to internal teams, stakeholders, and elected members.
  • Prepare planning reports, committee reports, and technical advice.
  • Manage consultations with statutory consultees, developers, and the public.
  • Support planning policy work relating to minerals and waste planning strategies.
  • Represent the authority at planning committees, meetings, and hearings when required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant planning legislation and policy frameworks.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in town planning.
  • Experience dealing with minerals and waste planning applications or similar infrastructure planning work.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
