Overview

Location: Norwich Site, Norfolk

Rate: Negotiable / Market Average

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm

Contract: Temporary to Permanent (possible)

We are recruiting for a Highways Operative to join our Highways team delivering works on the Norwich project. This role is based at our clients Norwich site and is easily commutable from Norwich, Wymondham, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Sheringham, Thetford, Swaffham, Fakenham, Cromer, Kings Lynn, Downham Market, Beccles, Gillingham, The Broads, Aylesham, North Walsham, Dereham and surrounding areas.

As a Highways Operative, you’ll play a vital role in the delivery of kerbing, paving, drainage, and patching works across the Norwich and Norfolk region, working alongside our clients team and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of the highways works programme
  • Work as part of a crew to deliver planned works to the highest quality
  • Conduct pre-start checks on all machinery (including hired-in plant)
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and report Safety Observations via our clients reporting system
  • Meet gang targets while minimising costs and offering alternative work methods
  • Safely and securely store all plant in designated areas after shifts
  • Contribute to company KPIs and drive year-on-year improvement in performance
  • Uphold and promote high standards of health, safety, and wellbeing
  • Work overtime as required, including emergency out-of-hours callouts

Requirements

Essential

  • NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) card
  • Experience in construction and highways maintenance works
  • Valid UK full manual driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
