Overview

Sheffield University Management School is seeking an experienced University Teacher in Work, Employment and Organisations to support delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. In this role, you will specifically contribute to the development and delivery of our Work, Employment and Organisations teaching and assessment across various modules in our integrated curriculum (e.g. MSc Human Resource Management; BA (Hons) Business Management). You will work with colleagues in work and employment studies, organisational behaviour and industrial relations.

Candidate should have experience delivering teaching in these disciplinary areas, through lectures, workshops and seminars, in a Higher Education setting, and show a commitment to developing a national and/or international profile in Work, Employment and Organisations education.

A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability is more essential to this role.

This post is full time.

Based in the Sheffield University Management School (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/management), you will join a vibrant community of teachers and researchers building the discipline of Management.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Work, Employment and Organisations (WEO) Subject Group to develop and deliver relevant teaching within the School’s taught programmes, ensuring accessibility, inclusivity and alignment with the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
• Improve and enhance the student experience and outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
• Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role‑model for students.
• Undertake scholarship activities in education appropriate to the role that positively impact student outcomes and are influential on a national or international level.
• Engage in recruitment and outreach activities, which may include activities outside standard working hours, for example Open Days.
• Engage in core administrative activities to support the delivery of the WEO programmes, such as student advising and mentoring.
• Represent the institution with external stakeholders to foster collaboration, at a regional or national level as required.
• Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks, including Professional Regulatory bodies (e.g. CIPD).
• Actively contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working.
• Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Qualifications

Essential:

• A PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in a relevant subject.
• Experience of teaching Work, Employment and Organisations or an associated discipline in a higher education environment.
• Teaching qualification e.g. FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or evidence of working towards one.
• Experience of working and communicating with a team of staff.
• Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to higher education.
• Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving.
• Experience of working independently on project activities.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and effective IT skills.

Desirable:

• Experience of recruitment and outreach activities.
• Experience of scholarship activity in education with national or international impact.

Employment Terms

• Grade: 8
• Salary: £48,822 - £58,225 per annum
• Work arrangement: Full Time
• Duration: 1 September 2026 – 31 March 2027
• Line manager: Head of Subject Group or Work, Employment and Organisations Academic Line Manager
