University Teacher in Strategy and International Business in Sheffield

The University of Sheffield is seeking an additional team member to join our teaching staff in the area of Strategy and International Business on our portfolio undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In this role, you will specifically contribute to the development and delivery of our strategy and international business teaching within our integrated undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. You will be contributing to modules across this subject area, and supervising postgraduate dissertations.

As part of the Entrepreneurship, Strategy and International Business (ESIB) subject group, you will be a key member of the curriculum design team, working with colleagues from all ESIB themes. You will also develop your administrative experience through taking a key course level role such as Module Leader.

Candidates for this post should have experience of delivering teaching in the areas of strategy and international business, including through lectures, workshops and seminars, in a Higher Education setting. Candidates should also show a commitment to developing their national and/or international profile in strategy and international business education. A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability in approach are essential to this role.

This post is full time. Based in the Sheffield University Management School, you will join a vibrant community of teachers and researchers building the discipline of Entrepreneurship, Strategy and International Business. Main duties and responsibilities:

• Working with the ESIB Subject Group, develop and deliver strategy and international business teaching within the School’s taught programmes, ensuring that it is accessible, inclusive and contributes to the University’s Education Strategy Delivery Plan.
• Improve and enhance the student experience and student outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
• Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role model for our students.
• Undertake scholarship activities appropriate to the role, that have a positive impact on student outcomes and are influential on a national/international level.
• Engage in recruitment and outreach activities which may include activities outside standard working hours, for example Open Days.
• Engage in core administrative areas to support the delivery of the ESIB programmes e.g. student advising and mentoring.
• Provide effective line management where required.
• Represent the institution with external stakeholders (within and outside the profession) to foster collaboration, at a regional or national level as required.
• Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks.
• Actively contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working.
• Make a full and active contribution to the principles of the ‘Sheffield Academic’.
• Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

• A PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in a relevant subject - Essential
• Experience of teaching strategy and international business, or an associated discipline, in a Higher Education environment - Essential
• Teaching qualification e.g. FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or evidence of working towards - Desirable
• Experience of working and communicating with a team of staff - Essential
• Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to Higher Education - Essential
• Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving - Essential
• Experience of working independently on project activities - Essential
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and effective IT skills - Essential
