University Teacher in Business Analytics in Sheffield

The University of Sheffield’s new MSc in Business Analytics degree launches in September 2026 and we are seeking an additional team member to join us as we deliver this innovative programme, as well as our existing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In this role you will contribute to the development and delivery of business analytics teaching within our integrated undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. You will work on modules involving mathematical modelling, data visualisation, programming (Python) and database management.

As part of the Operations Management and Decision Sciences (OMDS) subject group you will be a key member of the curriculum design team, working with colleagues from all OMDS themes, and will develop your administrative experience through key course‑level roles such as Module Leader. Applicants should have experience of delivering business analytics teaching—including lectures, workshops and seminars—in a higher‑education setting and a commitment to developing a national and/or international academic profile in marketing education. Flexibility, fresh thinking and adaptability are essential to this role. This post is full‑time and based in the Sheffield University Management School.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver business analytics teaching within the School’s taught programmes, ensuring accessibility, inclusivity and alignment with the University’s Education Strategy Delivery Plan.
• Improve and enhance the student experience and outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
• Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role model for students.
• Undertake scholarship activities in business analytics education that positively impact student outcomes and influence the field at national and international levels.
• Engage in recruitment and outreach activities, including outside‑standard working hours such as open days.
• Support OMDS programmes through core administrative duties such as student advising and mentoring.
• Provide effective line management where required.
• Represent the institution with external stakeholders to foster collaboration at regional or national levels.
• Adhere to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks.
• Contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through inclusive, collaborative working.
• Make a full contribution to the principles of the “Sheffield Academic”, which includes excellence in applied teaching, research and scholarship.
• Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Criteria:

• Essential (Assessed at Application): PhD or equivalent relevant experience; experience teaching business analytics or a related discipline in higher education; teaching qualification such as FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or evidence of working towards; experience working and communicating with a team of staff.
• Essential (Assessed at Application & Interview): experience developing strong working relationships with external partners; ability to develop creative problem‑solving approaches; experience working independently on project activities; effective oral, written and IT communication skills.
