The University of Sheffield is launching new undergraduate and postgraduate modules in September 2026. We seek an additional team member to develop and deliver innovative financial accounting and auditing teaching, collaborate with colleagues across Accounting and Financial Management, and contribute to the School’s teaching and learning strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) Subject Group to develop and deliver financial accounting and auditing modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Ensure teaching is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
  • Enhance student experience and outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
  • Behave ethically and act as a role‑model for students.
  • Undertake scholarship activities in Accounting and Financial Management Education that positively impact student outcomes and have national or international influence.
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach activities, including Open Days and other outreach events.
  • Support core administrative areas for the AFM programmes, such as student advising and mentoring.
  • Provide line management where required.
  • Represent the institution with external stakeholders to foster collaboration at a regional or national level.
  • Adhere to University quality assurance processes and relevant regulatory frameworks, including professional bodies such as ACCA and CIMA.
  • Contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through inclusive, collaborative working.
  • Carry out other duties in line with the grade and remit of the post.

Qualifications

  • A PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in accounting or a related field.
  • Experience of teaching Accounting and Financial Management in a higher education context.
  • Teaching qualification such as FHEA, PGCert Higher Education, or evidence of working towards one.
  • Experience working and communicating with a team of staff.
  • Experience developing strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to develop creative, innovative approaches to problem solving.
  • Experience working independently on project activities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and proficient IT skills.
