Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent, internationally recognised research on genetic instability in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) and 3D organoid-based tumourigenicity assays.
- Identify relevant literature, assess its validity and incorporate findings into ongoing research programmes.
- Develop novel research objectives and implement experimental programmes as progress is made.
- Disseminate results through publications in high‑quality journals and presentations at national/international conferences or seminars.
- Manage time, materials, finance and equipment efficiently.
- Support the principal investigator with research proposals and funding applications.
- Supervise or co‑supervise undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD students and delegate monitoring of research students.
- Participate in consortium meetings and seminars with collaborators.
- Plan strategically to meet deadlines for publications and collaborate meetings.
- Adhere to ethical decisions and sustainability strategy in all activities.
- Perform additional duties as commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.
Key Qualifications
- PhD (or near completion) in stem cell biology, developmental biology, bioengineering or a related field.
- Specialist experience in culture and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) or 3D/organoid models.
- Proficiency in qPCR, immunostaining, imaging and flow cytometry techniques.
- Experience with multi‑omics approaches (e.g., single‑cell RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq or metabolomics).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience delivering presentations.
- Strong record‑keeping, data‑management skills and appropriate IT experience.
- Problem‑solving ability with awareness of long‑term implications.
- Resource assessment, planning and progress of work activities.
- Continuous engagement with current research in the field.
- Flexibility to adapt to experimental system demands and equipment availability.
