Behind the scenes at Dunelm, there’s a lot of advanced tech keeping everything running smoothly. Our SAP systems are at the heart of our finance, warehouse, and logistics operations—and we’re about to begin an exciting S/4HANA brownfield conversion. Our Quality Chapter plays a key role in making sure we deliver value in the right way. With over 60 quality advocates (QAs) embedded across 20+ crews and 6 domains, we focus on building quality in from the start—not just testing at the end. What you’ll be doing

As a S4/H Quality Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of the S/4 HANA migration. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the testing activities while ensuring adherence to industry and Dunelm best practices. Your expertise in SAP testing methodologies and your strong leadership skills will be instrumental in achieving the project’s objectives. The successful candidate may have previously been in roles such as SAP Test Manager or S4/H or SAP Test technical specialists.

As a senior leader within the Quality Chapter, you will have experience working in matrix organisations which focus on celebration, cross-skilled teams and servant leadership. You will work within the team and with the business-aligned crews where your primary focus will be to define testing strategies, implement and advise on best practices, and drive continuous improvement in processes. You will work within the programme alongside the programme manager, head of Enterprise to lead the quality and testing. You will be focused on the success of the S/4H migration by leading testing strategies and ensuring their seamless adoption across the programme. You will be hands-on in the design, maintenance, adoption of the S/4 test frameworks and performance optimisation techniques.

What You’ll Do

  • Shape our Testing Strategy and Execution for brown field S4/H conversation.
  • Test Strategy & Planning: Collaborate with teams to define comprehensive automation and manual test strategies aligned with programme objectives and technical requirements.
  • Define our automation testing strategy for the S/4 migration programme and drive its implementation.
  • Tools and frameworks: Define, manage and implement automated tooling/frameworks which drive the success of the S/4 H migration, maximising quality and reducing escaped issues.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the key point of contact for stakeholders, managing expectations, and ensuring alignment on timelines, scope, and deliverables.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify testing risks and work with stakeholders to mitigate issues, ensuring testing processes run smoothly.
  • Triage Processes: Oversee triage activities, ensuring defects are prioritised and addressed in a timely manner.
  • UAT Management: Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes, ensuring all relevant teams are involved and feedback is captured for continuous improvement.
  • Timeline & Scope Management: Ensure testing activities are delivered on time and within scope, balancing quality and delivery deadlines.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely within the S4 programme teams to ensure testing efforts are aligned and issues are flagged early.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in testing practices and processes, ensuring they evolve in line with business and technical changes.
  • Performance Optimisation: Conduct in-depth performance audits and identify bottlenecks in our S/4H implementation, network and infrastructure.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship on quality and testing best practices and techniques.
  • Research and Innovations: Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in front-end optimisations and explore new opportunities for improvement.
  • Architecture: Contribute to architecture from performance perspective to business outcomes.

What we’ll look for in you

Essential Skills

  • Good experience with a successful S/4H migration program.
  • Experience of leading and implementing S4/H automated testing strategies.
  • Leading and managing teams in UAT, SIT and other testing phases.
  • Utilization and implementation of best practice of testing tools (e.g. UI Path, Tricentis).
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and testing outcomes.
  • In-depth understanding of SAP S/4HANA testing standards and delivery methodologies (agile, hybrid, or waterfall).
  • Experience managing change and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with functional and technical teams, system integrators, and business stakeholders to align on test goals and requirements.
  • Produce clear, actionable test reporting and insights for leadership and teams.
  • Contribute to the quality and testing strategies and to build a network to elevate our Enterprise culture.
  • Systems thinking to understand how different components of a system interact and influence each other.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Ability to influence and motivate others to achieve shared goals.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in relation to SAP deployments and performance optimisation.
  • AI and Machine Learning in Testing: Knowledge of integrating AI-powered testing tools or leveraging machine learning to predict and detect potential issues in the S/4 HANA migration process.
  • Performance Testing Tools: Expertise in tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, or other performance testing frameworks, specifically for SAP applications, with a focus on optimisation and scalability.
  • Security Testing: Familiarity with security testing and compliance standards within the SAP environment, ensuring that security best practices are embedded in testing activities.
  • SAP Certification: Any relevant SAP certifications, particularly in areas like S/4HANA, SAP Testing, or SAP Cloud, will be highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Test Environment best practices, including Test Data management and deployment strategies.
