About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused Food & Beverage Assistants to join our Commercial team.

This is a varied and rewarding role working across our two unique visitor attractions and supporting our growing Conferencing & Events business.

No two days are the same.

One day you could be serving freshly prepared food and speciality coffee in one of our cafés, and the next you could be delivering exceptional service at a corporate event, private dinner aboard RRS Discovery, wedding, conference or gala dinner.

You will be passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences, maintaining high food safety standards and working as part of a flexible team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
  • Deliver a warm, friendly and professional welcome to every visitor and guest.
  • Provide exceptional food and beverage service across all commercial operations.
  • Build positive relationships with visitors, event clients and colleagues.
  • Handle customer enquiries professionally and resolve issues promptly.
  • Act as an ambassador for Dundee Heritage Trust and its venues.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, including barista-quality coffee.
  • Prepare and serve food in accordance with company standards.
  • Operate tills and accurately process cash and card payments.
  • Replenish displays and maintain attractive food presentation.
  • Ensure dining areas remain clean, welcoming and well-stocked.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Set up meeting rooms, conferences and event spaces.
  • Assist with weddings, private functions, dinners and large-scale events.
  • Deliver table service, buffet service and drinks service.
  • Support room turnarounds and event breakdowns.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Events team to ensure every event exceeds client expectations.
  • Food Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Follow all Food Safety and HACCP procedures.
  • Comply with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
  • Ensure allergen procedures are followed accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of personal presentation.
  • Previous experience working in a café, restaurant, hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced team.
  • Experience handling food and beverages safely.
  • Flexible approach to working across multiple locations and service styles.
  • Experience working in conferencing and events.
  • Experience of table service and functions.
  • Experience using EPOS/till systems.

Qualifications

  • Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain immediately upon appointment).
  • Personal Licence awareness (not essential).
