As we continue to invest in our grounds team, we are delighted to invite applications for a member of staff to join Dundee Football Club as Deputy Head Grounds person. This role comes at an exciting time for the club as we continue to move forward with plans for both a new training facility and stadium. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the professional environment we are building for players, staff, and supporters alike. The club is looking for a dedicated, motivated and strategically-thinking Deputy Head Grounds person to join the stadium operations at Dens Park Stadium. The successful candidate will report to the Grounds Manager and play a key role in maintaining and developing the playing surface at Dens Park Stadium to the highest professional standard.

Job Summary
Dundee Football Club have an exciting opportunity within the Grounds Team Department and the window for applications is now open. The club are looking for a dedicated, motivated and strategically-thinking Deputy Head Grounds person to join the stadium operations at Dens Park Stadium. The successful candidate will report to the Grounds Manager and play a key role in maintaining and developing the playing surface at Dens Park Stadium to the highest professional standard. Working closely with the Grounds Manager the successful candidate will help ensure the pitch is presented to an elite level for all first-team fixtures and stadium events.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the stadium pitch and surrounding landscaped areas.
- Support all aspects of pitch care including mowing, marking, aeration, fertilising, overseeding, irrigation and pest management.
- Operate and maintain specialist grounds machinery and equipment safely.
- Assist with matchday preparations and post-measure recovery work.
- Help implement seasonal pitch renovation programmes.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures.
- Support the management and supervision of casual staff where required.
- Maintain high presentation standards across all stadium grounds and external areas.
Person Specification – Deputy Head Grounds Person
Experience
- Essential: Previous experience working within professional football, sports turf, or fine turf environments; Strong knowledge of natural grass pitch maintenance; PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates; SVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf (or equivalent).
- Desirable: Rapport building with football staff, players and other members of the operational team; Manage workload efficiently within demanding timeframes.
Skills
- Essential: Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends; Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment; Basic IT skills and understanding of working in a professional environment; Strong attention to detail, reliability and professionalism.
- Desirable: Rapport building with football staff, players and other members of the operational team; Manage workload efficiently within demanding timeframes.
