ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Accountant in the Accounting Strategy Team, oversee the day-to-day operational finance support, as well as assisting, and deputising for, the Accounting Manager in the provision of strategic level financial advice, planning and reporting to allocated Service(s). This role will have particular focus on providing:
- Finance oversight and involvement in the migration of a costing system to a new platform
- Qualified Accountant inputs and assistance with reporting, analysis and monitoring of functions as required within the team looking after Neighbourhood Services. Neighbourhood Services deals with a wide range of pressure areas, for example housing, construction services, waste management and environmental services.
You will have experience of preparation and management of revenue and capital budgets, managing financial resources, management accounts and final accounts preparation and audit liaison. You will have the ability to simplify and present financial and statistical information to non-finance managers and have good written and verbal communication skills. You will have sound leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to form positive relationships at all levels. Experience in system changes and migrations will be an advantage. A satisfactory Standard Disclosure Scotland check is required.
