Job Description

Requirements
You will be GTCS Registered (Secondary) and have proven and successful experience in strategic school leadership and school improvement and the ability to demonstrate the standard for headship. You will have the Standard for Headship (SFH), or equivalent, as detailed on the GTCS website: https://www.gtcs.org.uk/professional-standards/the-standards/headship.aspx. Responsibilities
The role of the Head Teacher is to promote high quality learning and teaching to secure improved educational outcomes for the benefit of pupils and the community, under the direction of the local Council. Head Teachers have a corporate responsibility to contribute to an agenda of ongoing improvement in their school and across their Council area.
The Individual
You will be able to demonstrate the Standard for Headship. You will have proven experience as a Depute Head Teacher/Head Teacher and demonstrate up to date knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence. In addition, you will have a strong record in raising pupil attainment and achievement, experience of School Improvement Planning, managing budget and resources and staff leadership, management and supervision. You will also have evidence of appropriate Professional Learning in a range of areas and be committed to a consultative and participative style of management. In addition, you will have a positive and caring approach and commitment to young people, have good communication/interpersonal skills and relate well to others. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
