This job description is intended to provide some guidance on the role, but the list is not exhaustive. The Estate Joiner will work as part of a team (currently of 4). There will however be a requirement to work alone as well as with the full team, or just one other member. Estate staff are required to wear uniform and represent the high standards of the Estate at all times.
- Joinery work
- Fabrication of windows
- Fabrication of doors
- Fabrication of other bespoke joinery e.g. staircases, bannisters
- General use of workshop woodworking machines
- Repairs to external joinery prior to painting, to include doors, windows, barge boards, soffits
- Repairs to roof timbers prior to re-roofing or as part of ongoing repairs
- Repairs internally to damaged property, skirting boards, doors, windows, window boards, floorboards
- Stripping out property internally – kitchens, bathrooms, carpets
- Fitting kitchen units
- Fitting (or removing) stud walling
- Fabrication and erection of signs
- Fabrication of ramps for disabled access
- Fitting and/or changing locks on doors and windows
- Furniture repairs
- Repair of fitted furniture such as wardrobes, bathroom cabinets
- Plasterboarding
- Assisting others with re-roofing
- Pointing
- Re-bedding of manholes
- Fitting and/or adjusting rainwater goods
- Collecting/delivering items to site
- Tidying workshop and maintenance department yard
- Basic maintenance of Estate vehicles
- Maintenance of Estate tools and woodworking machines
- Clearing and cleaning blocked drains
- Preparation of risk assessments
- Attendance of training courses as required
- Attendance at health and safety and other staff meetings
- Assistance with moving furniture and/or setting up for events
- Assisting sub-contractors, plumbers, electricians and others
- Assisting other departments on the Estate if directed
