Would you like to run a vibrant and growing leisure business? Do you have experience in restaurant or retail management? Does a happy customer make you go home with a smile? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marina Manager to join our senior management team focusing on the restaurant, retail and events elements of the business. No previous experience of marinas is required as full training to develop your existing skills in this area will be provided.

Dunchurch Pools is a canal side leisure destination set in the Warwickshire countryside near Rugby. The business includes canal boat moorings, supply dock & shop, brokerage, boatyard, food & entertainment and camping. Our objective is to be the best inland waterways destination in the United Kingdom, providing an exceptional customer experience along with significant benefits to the local community and environment.

Based in the Marina Office, the role is shared between two people across the working week. Day to day responsibility for the destinations businesses and seven part time staff is jointly held. This appointment has particular focus on our Food & Entertainment and Supply Dock & Shop businesses, along with overall responsibility for the site's marketing. The boatyard business and site construction/maintenance, each with their own senior manager, are outside the role.

The Food & Entertainment business incorporates café, street food events (food & music) and customer events. The Supply Dock & Shop business combines boat supplies (diesel, gas, coal etc.), chandlery, provisions and farm produce. Both businesses are developing strongly with exciting plans for future development and growth. The site's marketing includes shows, printed materials, website (to be developed) and social media.

The role is a unique combination of customer facing, administration, creativity, budget responsibility, business development and people management. Work in any one week is highly varied and interesting, for example: co-ordinating arrivals and departures of boats; serving visitors with diesel at the supply dock; negotiating a new product range for the shop; conducting viewings of brokerage boats; developing the café menu; organising a street food event for 200 people with food vendor and band; writing material for the website and social media; interviewing for new staff members; developing the annual business plan and budget. It is anticipated that the role will continue to develop as the business grows and evolves.

The successful candidate will be a people person, with strong communication skills, highly literate & numerate and self-motivated. Strong organisational and teamwork skills are essential to enable efficient delivery of highly varied tasks. They will demonstrate attention to detail and a wish to deliver the highest quality in everything they do. It is likely that they will have had considerable experience of the workplace but this need not be recent experience. A driving licence and personal transport will also be required.

It is anticipated that the individual will work 21 hours (3 days) per week and that overtime will be offered to cover such things as events and holidays. Some flexibility exists to pre-agree which days will be worked and, at times, around accommodating family commitments, for example during children's holidays. The opportunity to increase these hours may also be offered in the future.

Interested parties should forward their CV with a covering letter highlighting their suitability for the role. If you wish, please also feel free to call to discuss the role on 01788 247290 and ask for Joe or Janine.
