Are you an experienced journals editorial professional looking for that next move in your career? We have a super new role for an STM journals editorial professional. A growing membership organisation based in Hertfordshire (20 minutes from London by train) is looking for a motivated Managing Editor to grow an assigned list of journals by development and commissioning content. This role is initially a 12 month contract.

The Managing Editor will be responsible for developing a list of journals by building high performing editorial boards and working closely with them to identify and deliver the individual journal’s strategic needs. Working with the wider journals team, this role will build citations and relevance of published content and will run and use reports from the peer review system to drive development plans and improvement strategies.

The role will also involve working with the marketing team to ensure that journals are promoted through relevant channels and you will have the opportunity to represent the company at scientific conferences as required.

This is a highly important role for the team and the successful person will have proven experience in managing a list of STM journals, ideally with experience of Open Access. You will have a sound knowledge of publishing processes, strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and a high degree of literacy and numeracy. This is an ideal role for someone who is looking to build on their journals experience and who is ready for more responsibility.
