The role involves handling cases involving data breaches, misuse of personal information, and unlawful actions by public authorities. This role offers the opportunity to protect individual rights under the Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act while contributing to systemic change in data handling.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:- Report directly to Department Director
- Professional pro‐active approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of client needs
- Manage a caseload of data breach and privacy claims against public authorities and private bodies
- Provide expert legal advice on data protection, privacy, and human rights issues
- Conduct judicial reviews and strategic litigation to challenge unlawful decisions and policies
- Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and court proceedings
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to deliver high‐quality client service
- Identifying the funding options and advising on the most appropriate one
- Ability to help in marketing the department and the firm through social media
- Assisting in expansion of the department
- Qualified Solicitor with experience in data protection, privacy, or public law litigation
- Strong knowledge of the Data Protection Act, GDPR, and Human Rights Act
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet deadlines
- Commitment to client care and access to justice
- Experience in legal aid funded work is desirable but not essential
- Excellent IT Skills - familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills
