Department Background
Child Care Department focuses on representing guardians, parents, and children in adoption, child protection, special guardianship, and family law matters.
Main Responsibilities of the Role
- Report directly to Department Director
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members for all aspects of Child Care work
- Manage and supervise Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers, balancing caseload types and complexities
- Assist with delivery of training and development within the department
- Handle public and private children cases including child abduction, child protection, special guardianship, and adoption matters, and undertake advocacy
- Demonstrate a professional, proactive approach with strong client care skills and contribute to business development and marketing efforts
Key Skills Required
- Minimum 3 years PQE as a solicitor (NQ)
- Extensive experience in all Family / Child Care related work
- Valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying
- Strong management skills
- Committed team player with fair concern for team culture and cross‑referrals
- Proven supervisory experience and performance‑based accountability
- Excellent client care and ability to handle vulnerable clients
- Strong networking and communication skills for marketing and business development
- Knowledge of publicly funded Child Care work and capability to service privately funded cases
- Advocacy experience an advantage
- Proficient IT skills with Microsoft Office and document management

Salary Structure – Outside London
- NQ: £40,000
- 1 Year PQE: £42,000
- 2 Years PQE: £43,500
- 3 Years PQE: £45,000
Children Law Accreditation Salary
- £52,000 p.a. outside London for new Children panel members upon accreditation
