Duties and responsibilities
As an Employment Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of employment matters and providing high-quality legal advice to both employers and employees.
Key responsibilities include
- Reporting directly to the Department Director.
- Managing all aspects of Employment Law matters from initial instruction through to conclusion.
- Assisting with casework including dealing with a range of Employment cases including all types of Discrimination claims; Unfair Dismissal; Redundancy; TUPE; negotiating Settlement Agreements, Mediation; Breach of Contract; Conduct matters and matters as well as undertaking your own advocacy
- Negotiating settlement agreements and participating in mediations.
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate.
- Attending client meetings, taking instructions and preparing cases.
- Providing technical guidance and support to junior team members when required.
- Managing an appropriate caseload and ensuring compliance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate time recording and billing procedures.
- Handling correspondence and liaising with clients, tribunals, courts and third parties.
- Implementing recommendations arising from file reviews and audits.
- Ensuring compliance with file management procedures and best practice standards.
- Contributing to business development activities and supporting the growth of the department.
Experience and qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate
- A minimum of
- 2 years' technical experience in Employment Law
- A valid and unrestricted Practising Certificate.
- Extensive experience managing Employment Law matters independently.
- Strong working knowledge of Employment Tribunal procedures and privately funded employment work.
- Experience advising on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
- Previous supervisory experience and an ability to work towards key performance indicators.
- Experience undertaking advocacy, which would be advantageous.
- Excellent client care skills and the ability to handle sensitive and complex matters professionally.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and networking skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to business development and client acquisition.
- The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and take initiative.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
