Our Immigration Department has one of the largest legal aid Immigration practices in the UK, ranked as a top tier practice by The Legal 500 directory. Our immigration lawyers have an established reputation in acting for high net worth individuals and skilled individuals under the Tier 1 visa categories. The Immigration team consists of over 160 specialist lawyers nationwide, bringing the highest level of expertise to all Immigration matters. The department includes highly skilled lawyers who have trained as barristers and undertake complex appeal cases up to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Our team is renowned for their extensive experience in Asylum claims and challenging human rights violations.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
- Report directly to Department Director
- Responsible for all aspects of Immigration work including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
- Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers
- Assist with delivery of appropriate training and development in the department
- Handle a variety of Immigration work including detained clients, victims of trafficking & torture, asylum work, entry clearance applications, and judicial review work
- Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
- Prepare draft documents including witness statements and processing evidence
- Attend conferences and court
You will have a professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills, and be interested in Business Development and Marketing.
Key Skills Required:
- Must have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying
- Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation (IAAS level 2 membership is essential)
- Strong management skills and a committed team player
- Previous proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators
- Excellent networking and communication skills
- Working knowledge of publicly funded Immigration work
- Extensive experience in dealing with all Immigration related work
- Excellent IT Skills - familiar with Microsoft Office applications
