Child Care Department:

Our department handles cases involving guardianship, representing children, parents, and family members, including adoption, surrogacy, and same-sex couple arrangements. We are members of the Law Society Children and Family Panel, the Association for the Lawyers for Children, and Resolution. Duncan Lewis is one of the few firms on the Lord Chancellor’s International Child Abduction and Contact Unit (ICACU) referral list. Our work includes high-profile cases involving complex international elements.
Main Responsibilities of the Role
- Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to meet performance targets
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in Child Care law
- Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
- Assist with training and development within the department
- Handle a variety of public and private children cases, including child abduction, protection, guardianship, and adoption, and undertake advocacy
- Maintain a professional, proactive approach with strong client care skills and contribute to Business Development and Marketing efforts
Key Skills Required:
- 3+ years PQE
- Law Society registration; Children Panel membership desirable
- Valid Practising Certificate
- Team player with leadership and client management skills
- Supervisory experience and ability to meet KPIs
- Excellent client care, especially with vulnerable clients
