About the Role: The Recruitment Manager is responsible for attracting, selecting and onboarding top talent across the Duncan and Todd Group. They will support the full recruitment lifecycle for roles including Optometrists, Audiologists, Branch Managers, Customer Care Assistants, head-office positions and positions based in our Caledonian Optical lab. This role requires strong communication skills, industry awareness, and the ability to deliver an exceptional candidate experience whilst ensuring smooth and efficient hiring processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for clinical, retail, manufacturing, and Head Office roles within the Duncan and Todd Group.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and role requirements, ensuring up-to-date Job Descriptions are in place for each role within the business and all new vacancies are aligned to organisational growth and development plans.
  • Develop and publish engaging job adverts across job boards, company websites and social platforms.
  • Screen CVs and conduct initial telephone, video or in-person interviews to assess candidate suitability.
  • Provide guidance on interview techniques, salary benchmarking and hiring best practices.
  • Coordinate interviews, branch visits, assessments and follow-ups.
  • Offer recruitment insights, market intelligence and advice on hard-to-fill roles in the optical sector.
  • Support the HR team with pre-employment checks, right-to-work verification, and contract preparation as and when required.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records on internal recruitment trackers.
  • Represent the company at careers events, university fairs and optical recruitment days.
  • Support employer brand initiatives to attract clinical professionals and retail staff.
  • Build strong positive working relationships with external stakeholders (such as recruitment agencies, universities, training providers and professional bodies) for the benefit of D&T recruitment and selection.
  • Ensure all vacancies are hired in line with budget and blueprint, including external agency fees and additional recruitment costs.
  • Support the HR Project Advisor in ensuring all Home Office applications are submitted accurately and in a timely manner for all Optometrists requiring Visa Sponsorship.
  • Support the Head of People with any other tasks deemed necessary for the success of the HR function.
