We are a leading food processing company in Europe seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team in Preston. The role will support the Transport Manager with effective management and control of the internal and external transport resources.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Transport Manager in all aspects of running the Transport Department Office and supervising the administration team.
- Supporting the Transport team with planning and organisation of the Northwest transport arrangements to ensure customers receive their orders on time in full.
- Providing cover for Export Administrator and Transport Planner when necessary.
- Data entry and collating reports.
- Tracking departmental costs and raising purchase orders to ensure transport costs are in line with budget and any existing transport agreements.
- Supporting the EU Consolidation team.
- Compliance with applicable laws and licensing, including for example transport operators licensing, and drivers working time regulations for the Group.
- Measure, track and consistently beat transport performance targets through targeted KPIs.
- Support other sites and the Group as a whole with stock movements, fleet, compliance, supplier management and advice etc.
Qualifications Criteria
- Transport Management CPC would be an advantage, although training would be given.
- Experience in a similar role.
- Experience in leadership and management.
- Understanding of 3rd party logistics.
- Good knowledge of GB geography and transport routes.
- Proficient PC skills with intermediary Microsoft Excel and Word (essential).
- Strong communication skills and accuracy in work with high attention to detail.
- A flexible approach to working hours with the ability to work independently and additional hours when required to meet business or department demands.
