Overview

The company currently wishes to recruit a motivated Engineering Apprentice to work as part of the Dunbia Carnaby site Engineering Team. This represents an excellent opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled team with the potential for progression. For the duration of the apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience and develop theoretical knowledge whilst obtaining formal recognised qualifications through a local learning provider. The training will be electrically biased, but the role is a broad spectrum, and you will develop both your electrical and mechanical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a structured training programme with full support and mentoring to achieve on and off the job experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Attend day/block release to a local college to acquire a recognised Level 2 Engineering qualification.
  • Demonstrate compliance with working within the Company Mission, Vision and Values whilst representing the Company within a learning environment.
  • Work alongside experienced engineers performing proactive and preventative maintenance, including fault finding and repair.
  • Develop your skills while carrying out breakdown/planned maintenance on equipment.
  • Complete in an accurate and timely manner any paperwork as instructed by the company to include daily maintenance check sheets and job cards.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Managers to continually improve operations to drive improvements in quality, cost and safety.
  • Undertake Internal and External Training as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Previous engineering experience an advantage
  • Punctual
  • Ability to work as part of a team, possessing good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Understanding of mathematics and geometry to apply precise dimensional measurements and technical calculations to engineering tasks.
  • A good level of computer literacy is required for this role.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Possess a positive attitude and the willingness to learn.
  • Be diligent and behave in a responsible manner in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety legislation relating to the apprentice’s responsibilities as an individual.
  • A self-disciplined approach to your studies will be required as well as to your time-keeping and attendance in the workplace.
  • Committed to working within the Company Mission, Vision & Values.
  • Be able to reliably commute to place of work and college.
