The role holder will report directly to the Site Operations Manager and will assume full accountability for all aspects of production, including abattoir and primary processing, quartering, de-boning, trimming, processing, packing, storage, and distribution of meat and meat products. They will be responsible for strategic resource planning to ensure business objectives and customer expectations are consistently met. The role will have accountability for achieving optimal product yield, quality, and cost efficiency, in strict alignment with company standards, while ensuring animal welfare, food safety, legal compliance and operational efficiency are maintained at all times. Additionally, the role holder is expected to foster team development and cultivate a positive workplace culture, with a strong emphasis on Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental priorities. Responsible for protecting at all times the integrity of the Company through positive and constructive actions and attitude.
Responsibilities
- Promote a Culture of Food Safety and Quality within the site ensuring the brand integrity of our customers is maintained.
- Ensuring good housekeeping is maintained.
- Ensuring that Quality, Health and Safety and other Company policies are adhered to and liaising with relevant departments to ensure issues are resolved.
- Maintaining good employee relations and promoting equality of opportunity.
- Working within the Dunbia Mission, Vision and Values.
Specific Role Duties
- Generate and agree effective short-, medium- and long-term plans to ensure optimum efficiencies for production departments whilst operating within the agreed standard manning parameters.
- Agreeing, implementing and achievement of all departmental KPI’s ensuring accurate recording of information to enable the KPI’s to be measured.
- Maintain compliance for all food production in accordance with the relevant legislative, customer and company requirements with particular attention to Food Safety.
- To participate in site visits and audits and prepare accordingly in a manner to reflect best practice in the industry and respond accordingly to customer audit feedback.
- Assist the Site Operations Manager (SOM), and wider management team, in identifying and implementing corrective actions for non-conformances within the operations of the site.
- Drives operational excellence by strategically planning, leading compliance, and fostering a high-performance culture to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-focused production.
- Effective communications with direct reports and other members of the senior site management team, to ensure compliance with, and development of, the site quality manual / systems / HACCP.
- To maintain good employee relations and actively promote equality of opportunity and respect and dignity in the workplace, whilst empowering others with the aim of establishing a high performing team and individual culture.
- To establish effective communication channels with direct reports, other site management and interface appropriately with other sites to share best practice on behalf of the group.
- Regularly review the operations, actively research and, where agreed, implement changes to continue the development of the department.
Health and Safety Duties
- Maintaining Health and Safety and Hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations.
- Ensuring that all staff and visitors in the department wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Qualifications
- Proven experience within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment – meat processing experience is desirable.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean methodologies, and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality standards, and compliance frameworks.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality management systems.
- Leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on operational excellence and meeting production targets.
