We are actively seeking applications for the role of Abattoir Operative to join an industry leader that provides opportunities for training and progression to the right candidates. You will be working in a production environment within a meat processing plant in one of Europe's leading food companies; suppliers of choice to a range of leading local, national and international supermarket, foodservice and manufacturing businesses exporting to over 50 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Duties include operating machinery, using knives and saws to process carcasses, following food safety and hygiene regulations, meeting production targets, and working as part of a team in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Animal Handling & Slaughter: Stunning, legging and preparing animals for slaughter.
  • Processing: Using knives and saws to split carcasses, trim meat, and remove skin or hides.
  • Equipment Operation: Operating specialized machinery and automated processing equipment.
  • Quality & Safety: Adhering strictly to food safety, animal welfare, and hygiene regulations to ensure a high-quality product with minimal waste.
  • Production Targets: Working efficiently and meeting daily and weekly production targets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with other operatives and the wider factory team.
  • Maintenance: Performing basic cleaning and maintaining equipment and work areas.
