Sports Coach (SEN and Behavioural Support) The role will be working in a vibrant and supportive alternative provision school dedicated to providing high-quality education and personal development opportunities for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges. As part of our holistic approach to education, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Sports Coach to join our team and support the delivery of tailored physical education and sports activities. As a Sports Coach, you will work directly with students to engage them in structured sports and physical activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, self-discipline, and emotional regulation. Your role will be pivotal in helping students develop essential life skills, confidence, and a positive attitude toward both sports and school life. Key Responsibilities: Plan, deliver, and evaluate inclusive sports and physical education sessions tailored to the needs of students with SEN and behavioural challenges. Use sport and physical activity as a tool to enhance social skills, build relationships, and foster teamwork. Provide one-on-one or small group coaching for students, ensuring that individual needs and learning styles are taken into account. Support students in managing their behaviour, using positive reinforcement and strategies to help them stay engaged and motivated. Work closely with the school's SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff to monitor student progress and adapt approaches to meet students' changing needs. Encourage students to set personal goals, improve self-esteem, and take responsibility for their own health and fitness. Contribute to the development of a safe and inclusive environment for all students. Essential Qualifications and Experience: Experience working with students with SEN and/or behavioural challenges, ideally in a school or educational setting. A recognised qualification in sports coaching or physical education (e.g., Level 2 or above in Sports Coaching or a related field). Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to engage students with additional needs. Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. A proactive, flexible approach to supporting students with a variety of needs. Desirable Skills: Experience working in an alternative provision or special education setting.
