An ambitious and progressive secondary school in Luton is seeking to appoint an inspiring and experienced Head of Engineering to lead their successful department from September 2025 on a permanent basis .
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Engineering specialist or experienced Design & Technology teacher with expertise in Engineering to take on a leadership role and drive further success in this growing and innovative subject area.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Engineering department, driving forward the curriculum and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across KS4 and KS5.
  • Line manage and support departmental staff to ensure professional growth and excellent outcomes.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, industry-relevant lessons that develop students\’ technical knowledge, creativity, and practical skills.
  • Foster strong links with local employers and industry to enhance the curriculum and provide students with real-world insights and opportunities.
  • Monitor student progress, analyse data, and implement strategies to ensure all students achieve their potential.
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership initiatives as part of the wider Middle Leadership team.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • An experienced Engineering or DT teacher with a strong track record of success.
  • Previous leadership or curriculum development experience (2iC, Subject Lead, or equivalent desirable).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
  • A passion for Engineering education and a vision for inspiring the next generation of engineers and designers.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
