Langholm Academy 2 – 18 School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of British Sign Language (0.8FTE) on a temporary basis. This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in developing our culture of sharing and learning across the cluster.

At Langholm 2-18 school, we are committed to providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities while developing our young people as leaders and responsible citizens. We work in partnership with parents, carers, and the local community to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

We currently have 250 pupils in our secondary, 170 in our primary, and 25 in our nursery, managed by one Headteacher and an extended team of Depute Headteachers and Principal Teachers. Our core purpose is to prepare every child for success in learning, life, and work in the 21st century.

We are an inclusive school that offers a flexible curriculum appealing to many parents and pupils. Our environment is dynamic, with a commitment to understanding our pupils as individuals. We have 35 teaching staff and 10 support staff, enjoying strong relationships with our Parent Councils and community partners.

This temporary position may be suitable for a secondment, and agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying. Applicants must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years will need to provide a completed police record check from the relevant authorities if offered a position.
