We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of BGE (English) with vision and passion for teaching and learning. At Langholm Academy 2-18 School we are not only committed to providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities but also to develop our young people as leaders and responsible citizens who will make a huge difference to the school community and beyond. We work in partnership with our parents and carers, members of the local community, other partners in learning and most importantly, our children and young people.  At Langholm Academy 2-18 School we have 250 pupils in our secondary, 170 in our primary and 25 in our nursery. The school is managed by one Headteacher, with an extended team of Depute Headteachers and Principal Teachers.

We currently have 35 teaching staff and 10 support staff, and enjoy strong relationships with our Parent Councils and wider community partners including Buccleuch Estates, Langholm Initiative, Wild Eskdale and Outpost Arts. Our pupils and families are supported by a dedicated and highly skilled staff who play an important role in the development of our culture and ethos of getting the best for every child.

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of BGE to cover a temporary English position. This post forms part of Langholm Academy 2-18 School to deliver BGE as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
