Langholm Academy 2-18 School is seeking to appoint an Additional Support for Learning Teacher (ASLT) with vision and a passion for supporting learning and delivering pupil support. This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in developing our culture of sharing and learning across the school.

We currently have 250 pupils in our secondary, 170 in our primary, and 25 in our nursery. The school is managed by one Headteacher, with an extended team of Depute Headteachers and Principal Teachers. Our core purpose is to ensure that every child and young person reaches their full potential and is well prepared to succeed in learning, life, and work in the 21st century. We remain committed to closing the poverty-related equity gap.

As a 2-18 School, we shape and influence the experiences of all pupils, helping us to build on our academic reputation. We are an inclusive school that strives to offer a flexible curriculum appealing to many parents and pupils. Our school is a busy, dynamic environment with a commitment to getting the best for every child while understanding our pupils as individuals.

We are seeking to appoint an ASLT (1FTE) for a period of up to 1 year, maternity cover. This post forms part of Langholm Academy to deliver the Broad General Education (BGE) as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners. The successful candidate will assess pupils’ needs, deliver interventions, teach literacy and numeracy within the BGE, and work with the support for learning team to effectively meet the needs of all pupils.

This position may be suitable for a secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis. Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
