Overview

Swimming Teacher (3) – Dumfries

Post 1: 4.25 hours (Monday 3.15pm – 7.30pm) — £3,286.31 – £3,490.31

Post 2: 2.75 hours (Friday 9.15am – 12pm) — £2,126.44 – £2,258.44

Post 3: 3.25 hours (Saturday 9am – 12.45pm) — £2,513.06 – £2,669.06

We are looking for enthusiastic Swimming Teachers to assist in delivering the DG1 Swimming Programme, including Learn to Swim and Education Swimming Sessions. Three vacancies are available, and you may apply for one, two or all three posts.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct swimming lessons to participants and assist with administration and promotion of swimming lessons as required.

Qualifications

  • Ideal: Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) or UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics certificate, or equivalent.
  • Essential: UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatics certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills, reliability, and experience teaching children and adults.
  • Experience writing and following lesson plans and adapting to varying ability levels.
  • Excellent customer care skills. Knowledge of Dumfries & Galloway Council Learn to Swim Scheme and Child Protection is desirable.
  • First Aid Certificate and Health & Safety knowledge are desirable.

  • This post is regulated work with vulnerable children and protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment.
  • Applicants who have resided outside the UK in the last 5 years will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authority in the country of residence, in addition to Disclosure Scotland checks.
