Dumfries & Galloway Council are looking to employ an enthusiastic, experienced, and skilled Senior Clerk of Works to be an integral part of the Property, Estates and Programme Construction team. This post is for 36 hours per week and is fixed term for up to 3 years.
You must have a recognised qualification in the building construction field, with a minimum of a City and Guilds (or equivalent). You will be an experienced construction professional and have proven leadership skills with a track record of success in construction quality control within a local authority or public sector environment.
You will be focused on the provision of monitoring construction quality on the council's major projects. You must have significant post-qualification experience in a relevant role, experience of supervising large new build, infrastructure and refurbishment construction projects under different contracts including NEC contract and the Hub partnership process will be advantageous.
You must have good communication skills both oral and written, the ability to deal sympathetically but firmly with all stakeholders, be firm but fair with contractors and be able to interpret drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities. A sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical works, processes, trades and techniques is essential.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. This post is subject to candidate vetting through Disclosure Scotland.
