Teacher Additional Support for Learning (1FTE) at Sanquhar Academy

Salary: £36,159 – £54,453

Sanquhar Academy is located in the Upper Nithsdale area of Dumfries and Galloway, serving the Royal Burgh of Sanquhar and the neighbouring villages of Kirkconnnel, Kelloholm and Wanlockhead. Sanquhar is within easy reach of large parts of Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and Lanarkshire.

We are looking to appoint a passionate and committed Teacher of Additional Support for Learning to work alongside our caring, established team and to ensure that we make a real difference to children’s lives. The successful candidate will be a Teaching practitioner experienced in delivering Curriculum for Excellence, more specifically, at pre-Early Level, Early Level and life-skills-based activities. They will have experience of working with young people or adults with more complex Additional Support Needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of supporting and developing Inclusive Practice, with a specific focus on learners with more complex Additional Support Needs. They will have the ability to deliver a range of pedagogical approaches. They will join a committed team and will provide effective high quality learning experiences for our learners. The successful candidate will display a commitment to working in partnership with staff, parents and the wider community to provide quality learning experiences, helping to equip pupils with the skills to become successful, confident and responsible contributors to the world they live in.

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). Please see attached guidance for further information.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
