Job Description

Play on Pedals Coordinator (Fixed Term)

Remote Working and Hot Desking available

£16,831.67 – £17,676.67

You will be required to work 20 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

This part time post presents an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Active Schools and Community Sport team within the Education and Learning Directorate. Working to support the development of Cycling Scotland\’s Play on Pedals Programme in Early Learning and Childcare Centre.

Taking responsibility for the coordination of Play on Pedals training and promoting and an increase in the uptake of the Play on Pedals programme in Early Years settings.

Building capacity through training and developing opportunities for staff and other identified volunteers to support delivery through mentor support.

Applicants must hold a sports coaching qualification (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate their experience of coaching and/or working with young people.

Demonstrating an interest and knowledge in Cycling and Active Travel whilst showing an ability to communicate well with people of all ages.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident

Requirements

The post is advertised as an initial fixed term position until the end of June 2026 subject to an extension from funding partners.

This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
