The Douglas Ewart High School is a six-year comprehensive, non-denominational Secondary school, serving the area of Wigtownshire called the Machars and is one of fifteen secondary schools in Dumfries and Galloway. The current school roll is 600. There are 10 associated primary schools, ranging from small rural communities to larger town schools. The school benefits from an active and well-established Parent Council who are supportive of the school and work collaboratively to ensure the school is an integral part of its community.
The supportive management structure consists of a Headteacher, three Depute Headteachers and a School Support Manager. The Douglas Ewart High School has a motivated staff and an extensive campus. The school has extensive playing fields and sports facilities, with the Merrick Leisure Centre (which includes a swimming pool) integrated within the campus. A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
