We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Additional Support for Learning (ASL) Teacher to join our team at Moffat Academy 0.4 FTE per week from 19th August 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting pupils with a wide range of additional support needs, working collaboratively with staff, families and partner agencies to remove barriers to learning and promote inclusion.

The Role

  • Support the identification and assessment of pupils’ additional support needs
  • Plan and deliver targeted interventions and inclusive learning experiences
  • Work alongside class teachers to support high-quality, differentiated learning
  • Provide advice and strategies to colleagues to enhance inclusive practice
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and external agencies
  • Contribute to whole-school approaches to raising attainment, inclusion and wellbeing

About You

  • Is a fully qualified and GTCS registered teacher
  • Has a strong commitment to inclusive education
  • Has experience (or a strong interest) in supporting learners with additional needs
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with a range of partners
  • Is reflective and committed to ongoing professional learning

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only).

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

As part of the recruitment and selection process we ask that you provide ONE completed reference alongside your application form and will be read in conjunction with your application form.
