Langholm Academy 2 β 18 School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of British Sign Language (0.8FTE) on a temporary basis. This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in developing our culture of sharing and learning across the cluster.
At Langholm 2-18 school, we are committed to providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities while developing our young people as leaders and responsible citizens. We work in partnership with parents, carers, and the local community to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
We currently have 250 pupils in our secondary, 170 in our primary, and 25 in our nursery. Our core purpose is to ensure that every child is well prepared to succeed in learning, life, and work in the 21st century. We remain committed to closing the poverty-related equity gap.
As a 2-18 school, we shape and influence the experiences of all our pupils, helping us build on our academic reputation. We strive to offer a flexible curriculum appealing to many parents and pupils. Our school is a busy, dynamic environment with a commitment to understanding our pupils as individuals.
We are seeking to appoint a temporary Teacher of British Sign Language for up to 12 months. This position may be suitable for a secondment, and agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
