Teacher Additional Support for Learning (Temporary) at Langholm Academy 2-18 School.

We are seeking to appoint an ASLT with vision and a passion for supporting learning and delivering pupil support. This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in developing our culture of sharing and learning across the school.
At Langholm Academy 2-18 School, we are committed to providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities while developing our young people as leaders and responsible citizens. We work in partnership with parents, carers, the local community, other partners in learning, and most importantly, our children and young people. The school has 250 pupils in secondary, 170 in primary, and 25 in nursery, managed by one Headteacher, with an extended team of Depute Headteachers and Principal Teachers.
Our core purpose is to ensure that every child and young person reaches their full potential and is well prepared to succeed in learning, life and work in the 21st century. We remain committed to closing the poverty-related equity gap. Being a 2-18 School, we are able to shape and influence the experiences of all pupils, helping us to build on our academic reputation. We are an inclusive school, striving to offer a flexible curriculum appealing to many parents and pupils. Our school is a busy, dynamic environment committed to getting the best for every child while understanding our pupils as individuals. We currently have 35 teaching staff and 12 support staff, enjoying strong relationships with our Parent Councils and wider community partners.
We are seeking to appoint an ASLT (1FTE) for a period of up to 1 year, maternity cover. This post forms part of Langholm Academy 2-18 School to deliver BGE as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners. The successful candidate will assess pupils’ needs, deliver interventions, teach literacy and numeracy within the BGE, and work with the support for learning team to effectively meet the needs of all pupils.
This position may be suitable for a Secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
